For the longest time Grimaldi's pizza in El Segundo was my favorite. I really took it hard when they went out of business in Los Angeles. Other pizza places that came to LA that wowed me are Pizzeria Bianco, Esco's, and Prince Street Pizza. Today, I decided to try Danny Boy in downtown LA, in the Wells Fargo Building. Danny Boy is one the best pizza's in Los Angeles. It's closest comp is Esco's, but they're still different. Esco's offers larger slices of pizza, but Danny Boy's offers a denser & more chewy crust. There's much more olive oil in Danny Boy's pizza than Esco, which will leave you more filled up than Esco's despite having a smaller slice of pizza than Esco's. If you're not into the varied details of how a pizza is excellent, you might leave disappointed.

Seriously service great Standing order great attendance Seat yourself in or out is for you to pick No waiting time ( only if you have it made your pizza the way you want it) A bit oily coming from the peperoni Be open minded is the best option for pizza in the location. I would recommend it !!

Located in the lobby of a clean, modern, high ceilinged building smack dab in the middle of Downtown Los Angeles, the original and first Danny Boy's Pizza is an efficient pizza-making enterprise. A hardworking and amiable staff continue to churn out beautiful looking pies and on this, our first visit, we elected to go with a large meatball, mushroom and onion pie... The pie was gorgeous to the eye, as are all their pre-made pies you can order by the slice. My date particularly liked how they sliced the meatball to effectively be like pepperoni medallions. I asked for the pie to be cooked a tad longer to crisp up the under carriage some as that's how I like my pizza but it was still a tad floppy, maybe this was all due to the water imparted by the inclusion of mushrooms... Overall, the toppings came together with the cheese and tomato sauce into one single flavor and, while pleasant enough, it did not wow me like my first experience at Prime Pizza. I think I was expecting a little more flavor off the meatball, more seasoning or something. Also, it gave me ferocious gas!?! Go figure. LOL Paired with a Caesar salad that could have used real anchovies they certainly have, either as filets or in the dressing, the serviceable Caesar had notably good and crunchy croutons and, overall? I'd say Danny Boy's earned a thumb's up. It's good New York style 'za and I'd give it a go again... you should try it.

Food (4/5 stars): I was sadly underwhelmed by Danny Boy's pizza. I went with the Sicilian Pepperoni because it reminded me of Prince St Pizza, which I'm a huge fan of. It must've been the cook on the slice I got because it didn't look as cheesy or saucy as other pictures I've seen. I wouldn't count them out because their other slices look good too! Experience (4/5 stars): * Price: a little pricey * Wait Time: minimal on a Saturday for dinner * Service: good * Parking: there's metered street parking nearby * Ambiance: it's a quick service restaurant inside Wells Fargo Center

Very very solid NY style pizza, and the crust is fantastic. Honestly enjoyed the crust the most and saved it for the end. My new favorite place for this style of pizza. Better than Joe's and Garage. Slices are generous and guys that work here are great.

The pizza here was really good, classic NY style pizza. Meatball and ricotta was okay, but lacking some flavor. The pepperoni was the best; flavors were great and I was surprised with how there was not too much oil as pepperoni usually is pretty oily. The sauce was good too, not too sweet. It was thin crust and not too flimsy. I did not eat the Sicilian slice, but my friend said it was really good. The store is located inside one of the tall buildings. There's a big sitting area inside and outside. The inside had TVs and many wall outlets. So this would be a good place to grab a slice and do a little work. I would eat here again if I was in the area DTLA.

I always want this pizza after coming home from a night out haha My friend and I enjoyed this during the day.. a little weird being in a little shopping center type.. would love it if maybe in the future they had their own standalone building with maybe a little beer and wine bar or something.. other than that the pizza was great. I bought the hat a while ago hoping I could get pizza delivered to me but I live out of range. I wanted to try their gf pizza as well since I like to compare the restaurants who have gf slices. The service was very quick and everyone was so friendly. Definitely will check it out once they open in Westwood!

Gwen and I needed a place to eat and hang for a couple of hours while our triplets were at Prom at Casa Vertigo - which was less than 10 minutes from Danny Boys. A good friend Philip, who literally has an Apple Note with over 25 pizza places rated in LA told us to go to Danny Boys as it was in his list of places to check out. And boy were we not disappointed, pun intended ;) We ordered two types of pepperoni pizza because why not. And tried the white shroom pizza and knots too. All were top notch! The thicker pizza was similar to a Roman style pizza with the focaccia type crust - a bit airy, soft, and delicious! The pepperoni pie was a NY style slice and it was fantastic. The mushroom was great too and the garlic knots weren't needed per se but again, why knot?! Sorry, couldn't help myself. Next time in LA, will go back to Danny Boys because Oh, Danny Boys makes some truly great pizza!

Visit date: Saturday 4/13 1pm, the place was actually quite busy (being the only eatery in the whole building and close to the Music Center.) Their cheese slice, now $5.50, is still the best. Sicilian pepperoni slice ($6) is a thick spongy doughy square with light tomato sauce and crispy 'cupping' pepperoni, it's different and delicious but I still prefer thin crust and lots of cheese (NY or Napolitano style). Their chocolate chip cookie ($3.50) is just OK. Hot wings available on select days at manager's discretion, so call ahead to inquire.
